Patchwork Hosts Workshop on Modern Data Center Network Architectures

In mid-April, Patchwork hosted a workshop focused on modern approaches to designing network infrastructure for data centers.
The session was led by Alexey Pakhomov, Product Line Manager and engineer at Patchwork, who presented a structured and practical perspective on building resilient and scalable network architectures for next-generation data centers.

Spine-Leaf

During the workshop, key architectural concepts were explored, including Clos networks, Fat-Tree topology, and its practical implementation — the Spine-Leaf architecture, widely used in high-load environments and AI-driven infrastructures.

Special attention was given to the design of the optical subsystem within structured cabling systems (SCS) as a critical component of network performance and scalability. Participants reviewed practical guidelines for component selection, as well as strategies for migrating from 25G to 400G/800G without replacing the existing backbone cabling infrastructure, enabling significant cost optimization during data center upgrades.

The event attracted strong interest from system integrators, infrastructure designers, and data center engineers. Attendees highlighted the practical value of the session and the applicability of the presented solutions to real-world projects.

Patchwork will continue to develop educational initiatives aimed at enhancing partner expertise in the design and deployment of modern fiber optic infrastructure.
